On Find That Film we often lament that movie plots are nowhere near as complicated as they used to be. With that in mind, here’s a beautiful little Christmas movie to buck that trend: Arthur Christmas! This Aardman Animation presentation has been overlooked for far too long. You have to have a keen eye to catch everything they’re throwing at you. Starring James McAvoy, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy, and Imelda Staunton, it’s a feast of talent that you aren’t going to forget anytime soon. Why? Because at the center of this glossy Christmas present there’s a heart as big as all outdoors, and Arthur Christmas isn’t afraid to wear its heart on its sleeve. There’s a misstep here and there, and some of the humor probably played better to British audiences, but don’t let that stop you from discovering a new Christmas standard, with the hap-hap-happiest ending since Bing Crosby tap danced with Danny Kaye!
I’d tell you to stop listening to podcasts right now and go out and find Arthur Christmas…but I don’t want to hurt our brand.
Go find Arthur Christmas.
